We recently received a touching handwritten letter from one of our scholarship recipients, expressing their gratitude for the support they received through the Robbe Mayall Ski Education Foundation. It’s moments like these that remind us why this work matters.
Here’s what she wrote:
Dear Shelly and the other members of the board of directors of the Robbe Mayall Ski Education Foundation:
Thank you for awarding me a professional development scholarship for the 2024/2025 season. As it is very much appreciated. The emotion and reverence for Robbe’s memory that Shelly carried into the presentation of these scholarships impart how important his legacy is to all of you. Currently, I am pursuing a level three certification with a long-term goal adjoining the PSI an education staff as a children’s trainer. I am passionate in the pursuit of excellence in teaching, particularly with children I hope as a children’s trainer to support other instructors on their own teaching journey. Robbe and I never had the opportunity to ski together as so many other instructors we recall fondly. Mostly we had some lively conversations on the many details of the sport. Ones that create a lifelong chance to experience an epiphany at every turn. One especially fun discussion involved the insight that the mountain is never exactly the same. Every day is different, each turn is different. Even an immediate return to the exact same run will not yield the same exact experience as the previous one. And that way, every day on snow is precious. I thank you for continuing Robbe’s vision to assist us in our careers as ski professionals. It is truly inspiring to be supported on our way to personal and professional development.
