Founder

Our founder, Robbe Mayall, was passionate about helping others find joy through skiing. He spent many happy years teaching skiers from all walks of life. He found particular purpose in mentoring up-and-coming ski instructors who desired to make a career of ski teaching. After receiving a diagnosis of metastatic pancreatic cancer, Robbe hatched a plan to establish a foundation that would manifest his devotion to professional mentoring far beyond the end of his life. Today the Robbe Mayall Ski Education Foundation is doing just that. We are proud to sustain Robbe’s legacy by supporting ski instructors as they reach for their highest professional potential and demonstrate their own deep purpose through the art of ski teaching.

Who was Robbe Mayall?

For those who never knew Robbe, never skied with Robbe, it is hard to convey just how passionate he was about skiing and ski teaching as a way of life. Robbe was devout about helping others find joy in the sport he loved. For students of any level, a ski lesson with Robbe was much more than a few hours spent working on skills. Robbe’s infectious enthusiasm and his ability to coach students to their next level elevated a simple lesson to a life experience. Robbe underpinned every lesson with the belief that skiing reveals much about oneself and one’s life, and that life is best lived when skiing.

Big Snow. Big Air. Big Skiing. Big Smiles.

Alta ski instructors deliver. The good ones give us new skills, inspire a love of the sport, and fill us with a lifetime of memories.

But becoming a top-notch ski instructor is often a hard road. It takes several years to rise – to gain the training, certifications, build up clientele. It is a catch-twenty-two – all this requires personal time, money, and perseverance.

For those who stick with it the rewards are vast. But many more very talented professionals drop out due to financial or family hardship. “I love it more than anything else”, they say, “but. I wish someone could help, even a little bit.”

Robbe Mayall always helped. He took time to teach, train, inspire, and always gave money to those ski professionals who needed it to keep on going. They need you, too.

You make the difference.

Support the next generation of ski Professionals. Change Lives Forever.
